PROSECUTORS will be asked whether a murder charge should be laid over a young mum's death that police suspect was dressed up by her killer as suicide.
Homicide squad detectives are preparing a brief of evidence in the case of Maddison Murphy-West to present to the Office of Public Prosecutions.
Ms Murphy-West's body was found at her Pakenham home, her infant son Noah nearby, on October 23, 2013.
Investigators suspect she was murdered before the killer tried to arrange the scene to give the appearance she had taken her own life.
The OPP will provide advice on whether murder charges should be laid. Crime scene evidence examining whether it was possible she had killed herself will be a key factor.
Her mother, Paula Murphy, has revealed treasured texts sent by her daughter.
She said the messages broke her heart every time she read them, and showed the implausibility of suicide.
One said: "Can't wait to watch our gorgeous babies together. I know you and me are going to become even closer. You're not only my mum, you're my best friend and I love you so much.
"You're the best and I wish you luck and I'm here always. You, bubs and Noah complete my life. XXXXX. I LOVE YOU MUM!"
Boyfriend Troy Boothey is a suspect
Within months, Ms Murphy-West was found dead at her Aherns Rd home.
Police at first believed it was suicide, but soon their thoughts changed. It is clear that she had been a victim of violence and was frightened. Texts Ms Murphy-West sent from hospital, where she was being treated for assault injuries, showed she was in fear of her life 13 months before it ended.
Former boyfriend Troy Boothey is a suspect. The 25-year-old is serving jail time for a road rage attack months after her death.
Ms Murphy-West's family are angry that grief over her death has been mentioned in court as a factor in his offending.

Uncle Shannon Murphy said Boothey had long had brushes with the law.
"It is disrespecting her memory and this family. It's a disgrace he keeps using this as an excuse," he said.
Paula Murphy said she hoped the anniversary would be a spur for anyone with information to come forward. "If anyone knows anything, please help. Hopefully justice will be served," she said.
Victoria Police said: "The investigation into the death of Maddison Murphy-West is ongoing." Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Mum's vow amid nightmare
PAULA Murphy still hopes to wake one day to find out her daughter's death is just an awful nightmare.
Her diaries speak of the devastating day the police arrived at her home to tell her the news that would generate seemingly endless anguish.
Ms Murphy not only had to deal with Maddison Murphy-West's sudden death but see her two-year-old grandson, Noah, growing up without a mother. She is now raising Noah and her own son, Brydon, aged 21 months, a task accepted with the promise he'll get the best life she can give.
"Your love for Noah will shine through us," Ms Murphy wrote.
"He will always know how much you adored him. I promise to love and protect him for the rest of my life."
Amid the tragedy, Ms Murphy has been buoyed by the generosity of friends, family and others she has never even met.
Among them have been friends of Maddy, who organised a fundraising rally to help little Noah.
Ms Murphy also said investigators, Department of Human Services officials and Wesley Mission staff deserved praise.
