New trend ... Bomb Shelter Selfies have started to take off in Israel with people determined not to late the latest round of fighting to get them down. Source: Supplied
MOST would think huddling in a bomb shelter would be an anxious and terrifying experience — not for these Israelis who have started posting bomb shelter selfies.
Sara Eisen, a resident of Beit Shemesh in central Israel, set up one of the group's called 'Bomb Shelter Selfies' and now it is going viral.
"There's a selfie for everything so I figured why not bomb shelters?" Ms Eisen told Haaretz . "(It was a way of) showing the world that we weren't letting this get to us."
In one picture a young woman and an old man were clearly not prepared for the sound of sirens.
"Meet other neighbours in the shelter," the caption reads on the shot as the pair smile awkwardly just wearing towels.

Others chose to make dramatic faces or stick their tongues out to show that they will not let the bombing campaign get them down.

But not everyone online was as impressed by Israeli's showing their defiance, saying it mocks the growing Palestinian death toll.
"Guess who has no shelters or any safe spot to be in? Children of Gaza. The little charged phones are saved for emergencies rather than taking selfies ... Because guess who controls electricity? Israel," one user wrote.

"Meanwhile, Palestinian women and children don't have the luxury of running to bomb shelters when Israeli bombs fall from the sky. This is not war. This is ethnic cleansing," wrote another.
But Ms Eisen defended the group and said she would not say sorry for starting the idea.
"There are those who allege that the fact that we are smiling / not dead proves that Israelis are not suffering. I will not apologise for being alive, protecting my children," she wrote.

The appropriate time to take a post a selfie is up for much conjecture. US President Barack Obama was widely criticised for taking a selfie at Nelson Mandela's memorial service along with other world leaders.
