Prime Minister Tony Abbott says he is ready to deploy federal police to help secure the MH17 crash site.
FOREIGN Minister Julie Bishop has arrived for talks in Kiev as three Australian officials including Angus Houston are visiting the MH17 crash site for the first time today, after Tony Abbott said 50 AFP officers were on standby to go to Ukraine.
Mr Abbott announced his plans for Australian police to secure the crash site after he had a second private conversation with Russia's leader Vladimir Putin.
The Prime Minister said he wanted Aussie police deployed to Ukraine "as quickly as possible" so investigators could safely and thoroughly conduct their investigation of the site and find any remains before they deteriorate any further.
This comes as MH17 victims' stolen credit cards and phones have also been used, "destroying" grieving families.
Air-crash investigators in the UK, which has taken possession of the Malaysia Airlines aircraft's two flight data recorders, are still focusing their efforts on whether or not the second "black box" contains any useful information. New concerns have been expressed that much of the evidence at the crash scene has been "tampered with", as more bodies are set to arrive in the Netherlands.

From Charles Miranda in Kiev
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has visited the impromptu memorial on the steps of the Dutch embassy in Ukraine capital Kiev, ahead of high level meetings to ensure investigators can properly access the site of downed Malaysian Airlines flight MH17.
"It's so unspeakably sad," Mrs Bishop said, as she strolled about the hundreds of flowers, written tributes and soft toys on the steps of the embassy.

She looked visibly upset as she bent down at one stage to read one note among the sea of flowers.
Among the tributes were many Sun Flowers, representing the Sun Flower fields where the wreckage of MH17 lies.
"The more I become involved in this matter and try and get resolution for the families back home I understand the pain and anguish there is across the world," she said.
"Seeing these flowers and tributes and toys reminds us that there were 80 children aboard that flight and that confirms my resolve to get a resolution and closure for all of the families and relatives involved in this atrocity. And that is what it was — it was a crime."
Mrs Bishop met with her Dutch counterpart Frans Timmermans to discuss a joint approach to Ukraine government officials to enshrine investigators can take control of the 50km square crash site scene.
Mrs Bishop recognised there were huge challenges involved in ensuring the safety of the aviation experts.

Three Australian officials including Angus Houston are visiting the MH17 crash site for the first time today. They will be escorted by unarmed observers.
Australian air crash investigators have arrived on the scene of the downed Malaysian Airlines plane to attempt to establish what occurred moments before MH17 crashed in the rebel held east Ukraine.
Already the team has had some success identifying distinctive shrapnel marks on the blackened fuselage of the aircraft, indicating it was hit by a missile as opposed to suffering some form of major flight malfunction.
