North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un has been shown on state-run television with a mysterious limp as he commemorated the 20th anniversary of the death of his grandfather, Kim Il-sung.
At a government ceremony the 31-year-old Supreme Leader seemed to have suffered an injury to his right leg or foot as he hobbled across the stage.
It was a rare public display of weakness by Kim and the footage has raised speculation about his health. South Korean media was also quick to point out a scar on his forehead. It has been speculated that Kim has had plastic surgery to look more like his grandfather, who founded the country.
The footage is reminicient of that of his father Kim Jong-Il in August 2008 when he reappeared in public view with a limp after suffering a stroke. He died in December 2011, aged 69.
Kim Il Sung, who ruled until his death in 1994 of a heart attack aged 82, had a large and inoperable tennis-ball sized growth on the back of his neck which state media were forbidden from capturing on film.
It was not clear at this point what the reason for Kim's limp is.
