THEY are accused of committing serious crimes and many are considered too dangerous to approach.
Alleged murderers, sex offenders and drug traffickers are among Australia's Most Wanted and could be lurking in a community near you.
The hunt for South Australia's most wanted man Rodney Clavell ended in a dramatic siege in the city this week but there are still many on the loose.
Last year Crimestoppers Australia launched Operation Roam, a list of men at large who were wanted by more than just one Australian jurisdiction. After the list was first published several arrests were made after members of the public recognised and reported them to police.
But the rest, and others who have evaded police for many years, are still on the run.
John Victor Bobak
A warrant was issued for Bobak's arrest in 1992 over the double murder of Peter George Wade and Maureen Ambrose, who were shot and killed in a unit in Surfers Paradise in 1991.
One man was arrested and later jailed for life for his part in the murders but Mr Bobak has evaded police since then.
Once listed as Australia's most wanted fugitive, there have even been suggestions he is dead — but Queensland Police don't believe that to be true.
They believe he could be alive and last year the Queensland Government issued a $250,000 reward for information that leads to his capture.

Graham Gene Potter
Considered Victoria's most wanted, Mr Potter skipped bail and failed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court in February 2010 where he was due to face charges of conspiracy to murder.
He is also wanted for questioning on drugs charges.
Police have issued numerous public warnings and appeals about Mr Potter and have raised the possibility he could be prepared to live rough to escape authorities.
As part of their hunt police have appealed directly to farmers and growers to look carefully at who was working for them in case they had unknowingly employed him.

Brady Ralph Hamilton
Police want to speak to Brady Ralph Hamilton about the bashing murder of a man in Erskine Park, Sydney in 1999.
He allegedly was a high-ranking member of the Comanchero outlaw bikie gang and has been on the run since 1999.
He has a large tattoo covering his chest and has been on the NSW Most Wanted list for years.

Paul Brian Madden
Mr Madden is allegedly a key player in a syndicate suspected of cultivating big cannabis crops on crown land and selling it to other dealers.
He was among seven people arrested in Western Australia in 2012 after detectives raided properties in the town of Rocky Gully.
But Mr Madden then disappeared while on bail for drug and firearm offences and police suspect he has been living with associates in Queensland.

Michael Davidson Tillman
Mr Tillman is alleged to have been involved in an attempted murder in Surfers Paradise in September 2010. He was arrested and charged but failed to appear in court.
He is also alleged to have been involved in a serious assault that occurred in Queensland in August 2011. He plays competition pool and snooker and is possibly living in New South Wales.

Ian Roy Burr
Mr Burr was allegedly involved in a number of sexual offences against children under 16 in the Red Cliffs area of Victoria during July 2007.
He was last seen driving a maroon Toyota Hilux with Victorian numberplate FTH-479 and may be towing a box trailer.
Police say he is an experienced camper but believe he will avoid caravan parks. He may be using his skills with electronics to find cash jobs.
