1.40am - AUSTRALIA v NETHERLANDS

WHAT a task for the Socceroos. The Netherlands have been the most impressive side of the World Cup so far, dismantling champion Spain 5-1 in a performance for the ages.

Now it's over to Ange Postecoglou and his unheralded Aussie crew to produce what would go down as one of the tournament's great upsets.

Postecoglou made two changes for the Group B clash, with Ryan McGowan and Matt McKay coming into the side.

Mark Miligan and the injured Ivan Franjic drop out from the side that lost 3-1 to Chile in the Socceroos opening match.

Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal named the same side that thrashed Spain, with Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie, who both scored twice in that match, starting up front.

Australia: Maty Ryan, Jason Davidson, Matthew Spiranovic, Alex Wilkinson, Ryan McGowan, Tommy Oar, Mile Jedinak (capt), Mark Bresciano, Matt McKay, Matthew Leckie, Tim Cahill

Netherlands: Jasper Cillessen, Bruno Martins Indi, Ron Vlaar, Stefan De Vrij, Daley Blind, Daryl Janmaat, Nigel De Jong, Jonathan De Guzman, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie (capt)

Kick-off is 2am EST and we'll keep you updated with all the big moments.

1.00am - RONALDO GETS ROCK STAR TREATMENT

PORTUGAL may have been drilled by Germany, but Cristiano Ronaldo was feted like a rock star at training today as thousands of fans turned up to watch the team train in Campinas.

As he jogged around the stadium, hordes of teenage girls screamed his name and fans pressed their faces against the wire fence to get a closer look at their hero.

Portugal got off to the worst possible start in Brazil with a 4-0 drubbing from Germany that also saw Pepe sent off for a head-butt and Fabio Coentrao sustain a thigh injury that rules him out of the rest of the tournament.

But today, music blared from loudspeakers and a helicopter whirred overhead as thousands of fans decked out in Brazil and Portugal shirts waited for the arrival of the Real Madrid star.

The Portugal captain eventually emerged from a tunnel onto the pitch with the rest of the squad about 20 minutes late, wearing orange boots and a grey and green training top, sending excitement to fever pitch.
