Walter White helps prom invite

A California teen who asked Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston to record a video asking his girlfriend to the prom got more than he bargained for — the video, plus an all-expenses-paid trip to New York for the kids and their moms.

Stefan Montana, 17, from Los Gatos, California, got Cranston's attention last month outside Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, where Cranston is starring as US President Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way.

Montana, who was in New York to scout colleges, was able to convince Cranston to tape a hilarious message to classmate Maddie Abene, reports The New York Post.

"If you don't go to the prom with Stefan, maybe your best course of action would be to tread lightly," said an ominous Cranston, sounding every bit like Walter White — the school-teacher-turned-meth kingpin in Breaking Bad.

After capturing Cranston's jokey threat on video, Montana flipped the smartphone to his own smiling face: "Maddie will you go to prom with me?"

Montana said he was confident Abene would say yes with Walter White on his side.

"I don't think there's any saying no to Walter White. And if she did say no ..." Montana told US ABC News.

"You'd kill me!" Abene chimed in. "It was a threat — a kind threat."

Abene said "yes." But Cranston wasn't done.

The former Malcolm in the Middle actor paid for both teens and their mums to come to New York City the weekend before last, where they met the All the Way cast and saw two other shows on the Great White Way.

Stefan's dad, Mario Montana, couldn't make the trip, but said everyone told him the visit was a blast.

"They definitely had an amazing experience!" Mario told The Post. "The people [Cranston and his co-stars] were incredibly nice."

Abene said she was blown away meeting Cranston and company.

"I've never been in a room with so many talented people at one moment in time," Abene told KNTV in San Jose.

"And it was really just overwhelming, and everybody was so nice to us, you know, all the cast members and Bryan [Cranston] especially. They were all so casual about it."

Montana, who hopes to study theatre arts in college, has already become a local celebrity for pulling off the amazing prom stunt.
