AS FAR as a right royal guess goes, 72-year-old pensioner Lillian Lowers might have the inside running.
The New South Wales resident of Gilgandra, 45 minutes' drive north of Dubbo, is the only known Australian relative of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.
And Mrs Lowers has declared the heir to the British throne will be born "in the next few days", be named Elizabeth and weigh under 2.26kg.
"I think it is going to happen in the next few days, anywhere between two in the afternoon and just before 12 at night. It is going to be a girl. It will weigh under 5 pounds," the Duchess' second cousin said.
"I don't think (they will) pick a peculiar name. I've got a feeling they will call her Elizabeth.
"One of my granddaughters, her second name is Elizabeth."
According to Lillian's daughter-in-law Tia Lowers - who is married to Mark Lowers from Mansfield in Brisbane - Kate's mother Carole Middleton and Lillian exchanged Christmas cards in the years after Lillian immigrated to Australia in the 1970s.
But living more than 17,000km from the UK, Tia Lowers said time and space have kept them separated.
And despite having never met Kate, it hasn't stopped the family from reconnecting with their royal blood.
Tia Lowers and her natural mother are making a gift for the heir to the throne.
"We're going to send over a baby present," Tia Lowers said.
"My mum has done some absolutely stunning sewing work. And we found a cot panel with beautiful, soft plush, kangaroo, emu and crocodile. Mum is just doing the finishing touches so we can pack that off and attention it to Buckingham Palace.
"We've been working on it for the last six weeks. We were planning it all along. It takes mum three to four days to make these things and we were hunting everywhere to find something that would be most appropriate - because you can get teddy bears or ballerinas or mermaids.
"But we don't know the sex of the baby, of course, so we wanted something that had a bit of an Australiana theme to it. We will send it off when we hear through the news. We love it. We love the idea (of having a connection with them)."

The family discovered the connection to Kate Middleton only after Mark Lowers started investigating their family tree in 2008-2009.
They discovered that Lilian and Carole Middleton have the same grandmother, Edith Eliza Chandler.
Lillian Lower's English husband, 79-year-old Ron Lowers, is an ex-serviceman with the Royal Air Force in Britain, along with being a former mercantile marine.
He believes the royal connection has put the town of Gilgandra, population of 2700, "back on the map".

He said after the royal wedding in 2012: "I sent a congratulatory card to Buckingham Palace and I got a reply back from both the princes, actually, and we will probably do the same when the baby is born.
"And we'll probably get a reply back from Buckingham Palace. Me, I'm over the moon, because I'm an out-and-out royalist.
"They opened up the council town hall in Gilgandra and had a mock wedding of the royal couple. My wife was in that as well.
"It is (exciting). They told us: you couple have put Gilgandra back on the map. Since then everything has died down and we like it like that.
"We live 2km out of town which is just a little bit more than walking distance which is good."
Lilian believes Kate has a lot of the late Princess Diana's qualities, which will make her perfectly suited to motherhood.
She added that motherhood has changed a lot in the last 30 years, with many mothers being more involved than what they used to be.
"I think she will make a marvellous mother. I don't know; it is something in her face - and she has got that attitude with children when you watch her on the television, " Lillian Lowers said.
"No she doesn't (seem like a regular royal). She just acts natural. Nothing has gone to her head. She is a very lovely person. I could sit and listen to her for hours. I used to love Diana."
