THE largest mega-liner ever to be based here, the 3840 passenger-capacity Voyager Of The Seas, will call Australia home for the first time from tonight.

The floating luxury hotel, which has its own ice skating rink, basketball court and three-storey main dining room and is capable of churning out 300,000 desserts a week, will share Sydney Harbour with the 2138-capacity Celebrity Millennium, with the ships to meet west of Fort Denison at 7pm tonight.

Voyager, arriving from New Zealand, will dock at the overseas passenger terminal as Millennium, in Australia for the first time since 2009, heads for her debut Asian season.

During the summer Voyager Of The Seas will also visit Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth before heading to Asia.

In a record-breaking 38-hour period from 7am today until 9pm tomorrow the passenger terminal will process more than 11,500 passengers.

An exclusion zone will be set around both ships, banning any vessel from coming within 30m.

Two of Sydney Ports' most experienced harbour pilots, in New Zealand earlier this week to familiarise themselves with the Voyager, will guide the liners through the Harbour.

Ferry services are expected to experience delays and the Transport Management Centre will monitor CBD roads for congestion.

During her Sydney summer season Voyager of the Seas will source the following produce from local suppliers:

* 370,000 eggs

* 400,000kg of fresh vegetables

* 75,000 litres of milk
