‘I fell in love with older co-star’

WILL Smith has dished that he fell deeply in love with a female co-star 25 years older than him as she revealed that she also "adored" him.

Smith, now 46, told Esquire that the love developed while he was experimenting with method acting while filming Six Degrees of Separation with Stockard Channing and Donald Sutherland.

"I got a taste early of the dangers of going too far for a character. My character was in love with Stockard Channing's character. And I actually fell in love with Stockard Channing," he said.

"So the movie was over and I went home, and I was dying to see Stockard. I was like, "Oh no! What have I done?" That was my last experience with Method acting, where you're reprogramming your mind. You're actually playing around with your psychology," he said.

Channing has responded saying she is "flattered" that Smith fell for her during filming.

Channing, 71, herself told The New York Post, "Well, I'm very flattered," at the Six Degrees of Stockard Channing event at New York's McKittrick Hotel. "That's a wonderful thing ... I adored him from the first time I laid eyes on him because I thought he was genuinely sweet. I felt very protective of him, because it was his first big job. It's amazing for me to hear that he felt that way, I'm delighted."

Channing is now starring in It's Only a Play on Broadway.
