THERE must be something in the famous Adelaide water.
Penny Wong is the third Opposition MP set to have a child, her second, next year. Her partner, Sophie Allouache, is due in April. Labor frontbenchers Kate Ellis and Amanda Rishworth are due in April and March respectively.
Senator Wong, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, and Ms Allouache are keeping the identity of the father to their almost-three-year-old daughter Alexandra secret.
But the same man will be father to their second child, born through IVF.
Senator Wong has thanked the father and the IVF staff.
She told The Advertiser that Alex helped them spread the good news.

"Like all families we had to think about whether we tell the toddler because she's notorious - she doesn't know what a secret is," she said.
"But we decided to tell her because we thought it was important she knew.
"Which was fine except at the Labor convention she sat reading The Gruffalo to a baby over and over again ... I came over and asked how it was going and a friend said 'it's all really good but she's just told everyone Mummy's got a baby in her tummy'."
Asked how she would balance the hectic Parliamentary schedule with two small children, Senator Wong admitted it would be hard.
"The unfortunate reality is that Sophie does the lion's share of the work and we're lucky to have my Mum and Sophie's parents, who are very supportive ," she said.
Federal Labor MP Kate Ellis and her husband, media identity David Penberthy, are expecting their first child.
"I think we've still got so far to go as a society as to how we balance work and family.
"Unfortunately most work is still structured in a way that expects someone at home to do most of the work."
Work/life balance is set to be a hot issue in the months to come as the Government considers its unpopular paid parental leave scheme.
Speculation is rife the scheme will be amended as part of a review of childcare.
Ms Rishworth has said she is lucky to have a "wife" in the form of her husband Tim Walker, who is hoping to take extended paternity leave so they can cope with the gruelling travel that comes with being an MP.
Ms Ellis has said she is "acutely aware" that she and her columnist and radio host husband David Penberthy are in a better position than most Australians to cope with finding work/life balance.
