Is Frank making a comeback?

US PARENTS binge watching hit shows like Orange is the New Black and House of Cards has provided inspiration when it comes to naming their baby, according to a new list.

BabyCentre's Top 100 Baby Names for 2014 shows many of the old favourites making the Top 10 list, with Jackson and Sophia again topping the list.

Sophia, Emma and Olivia remain the top three girl's names, while Jackson, Aiden and Liam each retained their top three position.

Caden and Logan were the only new additions to the boys Top 10, replacing Jayden and Jack, while Madelyn bumped out Chloe to record the only new addition to the girls Top 10.

But it was the rise in many new names that show the effect of binge watching hit TV shows.

Several babies were given an Orange Is the New Black name, with Galina, up 67 per cent, Nicky, up 35 per cent, and Piper, up 28 per cent.

House of Cards character names were also popular, with Frank, up 19 per cent, and Claire, up 14 per cent.

BabyCentre said a survey of families showed almost 20 per cent of mums said they were inspired by TV-show characters and 16 per cent looked to actors and actors for baby name ideas.

Meanwhile, don't be surprised to encounter some little Elsa's, Duke's and Hans' in the next few years as Disney's Frozen continues to prove popular.
