Gable Tostee's lawyer concedes there's a case against him for manslaughter, but no case for murder.

ACCUSED playboy balcony killer Gable Tostee has axed his lawyers as he prepares for a fresh bail bid.

Tostee has dumped former police prosecutor Mick Purcell, of Potts Lawyers, in favour of the firm of prominent civil liberties lawyer Terry O'Gorman.

BAIL HEARING: Gable Tostee 'wasn't on balcony'

AUDIO FILE: Tostee's 'secret recordings' revealed

Gable Tostee is accused of murdering Warriena Wright, who fell to her death from the balcony of his 14th floor Gold Coast apartment.

Tostee has been behind bars since being charged with murdering New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright on August 8. Ms Wright fell to her death from Tostee's 14th-floor apartment in Surfers Paradise within hours of meeting him on dating site Tinder.

Mr O'Gorman had slammed the release of documents detailing the police case against Tostee ahead of a Supreme Court bail hearing last month.

The documents contain transcripts of mobile phone recordings in which a male voice can be heard telling a woman he would not let her leave his apartment because she had been "a bad girl".

Extracts from the recordings police will use in their case against Gable Tostee.

The woman can also be heard making choking noises, the court documents allege.

Within an hour of her death, Tostee allegedly ordered a pizza.

Mr O'Gorman said the release of the documents was "absolutely worrying" and suggested they may have been leaked by police, although media outlets including The Courier-Mail obtained them from the court.

Gable Tostee posted this video from one of his motion-sensor cameras to social media, claiming the woman in it had stolen his wallet.

Tostee's bail application was adjourned after Justice Debra Mullins requested information on his autism.

Judge Mullins said the murder charge would be "difficult" to prove as Tostee was not on the balcony when Ms Wright fell, but she said a manslaughter case was "reasonably strong".

Police have opposed bail, arguing Tostee has a "callous disregard for human life".

Tostee has protested his innocence and says he intends to fight the murder charge.

Robertson O'Gorman Solicitors declined to comment.
