FIREFIGHTERS were forced to use soap to free a woman from the chimney of a man she met online, in a suspected burglary gone awry.
The rescue team arrived at the Thousand Oaks, California home at around 6am on Sunday (6pm AEST), following reports a woman had become trapped in the brick tower on the roof, according to NBC.
They first attempted to dismantle the chimney, revealing the woman's blackened arm.
It then took a good glob of dish soap to finally set the alleged intruder free, Ventura County Fire Captain Mike Lindbery said on Twitter.
The woman, later identified as Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa, was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry and giving false information to police.
ABC7 reports it was the second time the woman was found on the roof of the home.
The male resident said he had met Nunez-Figueroa online and went on a few dates with her, but recently ended the relationship.
"I'm going to be a little more cautious of who I invite into my house now," he said.
