AN ON-DUTY Grenadier Guard filmed dancing outside Buckingham Palace is being investigated.
Video shared on YouTube shows the unidentified guardsman pirouetting several times and even kneeling down to pick up something from the floor.
Tourists can be heard laughing in the background, with one saying: "Look at him spinning. That's really silly. Do you think he will get told off for it by the policeman?"
The British Ministry of Defence said it is investigating the stunt, believed to have happened while the Queen was away in Scotland.
Sharing the three-minute video online last month, Andy Richards wrote: "A Buckingham Palace guardsman misbehaves on duty while the Queen is on holiday. His senior officer might be having a chat with him later...".
Grenadier Guards, responsible for patrolling the Palace grounds, are the most senior infantry regiment in the British Army. They are sometimes sent overseas on official duty.
The London Evening Standard reported an MoD spokesman said it had launched an investigation, adding: "Anyone who is found to fall short of the Army's high standards can expect to face appropriate action."
The guards — known as 'bearskins' — are expected to stand still and withstand long periods of boredom, not to entertain tourists.
