CANTERBURY coach Des Hasler has defended Josh Reynolds' brain explosions, adamant they were out of character.
Hasler said Reynolds was well-aware he had a "bad night" in the Bulldogs 41-10 loss to Brisbane.

The NSW star was put on report twice and then sin-binned for repeated indiscretions.
He first kicked Sam Thaiday in the face during a tackle in the 51st minute, which prompted the backrower to yell at the man nicknamed Grub: "You are a f***ing grub".

Canterbury were attacking Brisbane's line at the time but the resulting penalty bailed the Broncos out of trouble.
Then Reynolds blatantly tripped Ben Barba, an offence that could have resulted in a send-off.
Finally he made a high tackle on Alex Glenn, which caused Reynolds to be sin-binned for repeated infringements with less than five minutes remaining in the game.
"He had a bad night, a tough night, and he's well aware of that," Hasler said.
The Brisbane Broncos have snapped a two-game losing streak and remain in the NRL finals race after they thrashed the Canterbury Bulldogs 41-10 at Suncorp Stadium.
"Frustration got the best part of him tonight.
"He's not like that. He's not that kind of player.
"It is a tough lesson he learned tonight.
"He will cop his medicine and he will get on with it."
