Solange ‘felt Jay Z too close to Roy’

TMZ has found CCTV footage of Beyonce's sister, Solange, attacking Jay Z in a lift after the 2014 Met Ball in New York.

AS THE rumours and theories fly as to that infamous fight between Jay Z and Solange, many are asking why Beyonce stood back and remained passive throughout the entire thing.

Now, speculation is rising that Solange was enraged because her brother-in-law "got too close" to designer Rachel Roy at the Met Gala, and that Roy was "hovering around" Jay Z at the event.

A source told the New York Daily News that, "Rachel is a little too close to Jay Z. Solange doesn't like it, and Beyoncé doesn't like it."

According to Us Weekly, the 27-year-old singer apparently told Roy that "anyone who gets close to Jay has to be warned and deal with her as a sister".

A source told the magazine: "Rachel is combative and a tough girl, She didn't back down," and Jay Z and Beyonce had to intervene to separate the two as they got into an argument. (And we all know what happened later in the lift.)

Earlier reports said that Solange was spotted yelling at a group of people including Roy at the posh gala, before her lift meltdown.

Roy, of course, has had a long association with the rapper. Her ex-husband Damon Dash, was once Jay's business partner until the two had a massive falling out.

For his part, Dash appeared to comment on the hoo-ha over the video of Solange hitting Jay in the elevator as he posted an old photo of his teenage daughter Ava with Solange on Instagram.

"Forgot about this one @ava_dash @atrak and solange … I am actually impressed with her independent spirit ... She seems like a fighter #festivallife," he wrote.

Roy also alluded to the furore, by referencing a Jay Z song on Twitter.

Promoting her clothing line, she tweeted a link to her new summer line, with the words: "The Beach is better!", which, coincidentally, just happens to be the title of a Jay Z song from 2007.
