THE family of an elderly Canadian man are desperately trying to track down a mystery father-and-daughter duo to thank them for saving their father's life.
Katie Severn, 28, said the two Aussie heroes rescued her father, Mike Reynolds, 73, when he had a heart seizure and lost consciousness while on a snorkelling trip to Phi Phi island on April 22.
"They were on the same day tour as us, and when they saw my dad was in trouble, they didn't hesitate; they immediately leapt off the boat into the water and started administering CPR," Katie Severn said.
"Then they lifted him onto the speedboat, and continued giving him CPR as the boat rushed him to the small hospital on nearby Phi Phi island.
"They waited with us at the hospital while medical staff spent more than 30 minutes trying to resuscitate my dad, which meant they missed their speedboat back to Phuket," Katie's sister Kristi said.
"They even filled out the hospital paperwork for us. Without them, my dad wouldn't have made it alive to the hospital," she said.
Kristi said the good Samaritans told her they were both lifesavers on Australia's east coast and were in Phuket on a family holiday.
"I remember the daughter's name was Sophie, and her younger brother, aged about 16, was with them, but that is all I can remember about them. I would really like to find them so we can thank them properly for saving my dad's life," Kristi said.
Mr Reynolds is still in intensive care in Phuket.
