All you need to know about the usual suspects and outside chances vying for a statue at this year's Logie awards.

DON'T be fooled by the gilt Gucci gown or even her TV character as a spoiled rich kid.

Logie Awards' new talent nominee Abby Earl, who stars on Channel 7's top-rating Australian drama series A Place To Call Home, is as grounded as they come, calling herself a fashion "fraud" as she prepared for her first red carpet run at the industry gala tomorrow night.

While many of her female contemporaries might be slimming down on a liquid diet of green juices and "a single cube of cheese," the stunning Seven star said she's spent this week throwing back leftover Easter eggs and dining at Sydney's meatiest eatery, Porteno.

"I don't want to get on my high horse, but I don't think it sets the right precedent and I don't want to buy into or subscribe to the thought that if you have an event coming up you better starve yourself," said the 25-year-old, who has won acclaim for her role as country heiress Anna Bligh.

"I want good role models like Meryl Streep and in whatever minor way I'm a role model, I don't want girls to think 'oh great she dropped half her body weight for the Logies'. And besides, food's too yum."

As if to prove her point, an hour after fittings for her Logies gown, Earl was home "in my trakkydaks and got stuck into some Easter eggs again."

While revelling in the fairytale moment of styling up in designer couture, the Sydney actor admitted she's not entirely as comfortable playing fashion plate as she looks.

"I felt pretty out of place and overwhelmed. I had that moment where I was thinking 'I can't believe I'm wearing such an expensive outfit with my Bonds undies'," she laughed.

"I'm such a disgrace, but there's something about those clothes, you just feel beautiful."

Earl also downplayed her chances of taking the career-boosting new talent gong, to be contested by Home And Away's Bonnie Sveen and Johnny Ruffo, Caren Pistorious (Offspring, Redfern Now and Paper Giants: Magazine Wars) and Australia's Got Talent judge Timomatic.

"The nomination was an absolute shock, especially the company I'm in. I was like `yeah, but they're actually popular and I'm just a ring-in.'"

Her part in Australia's favourite local drama series clearly put her on fans radar, but Earl said the character's "so obnoxious, she's such a little princess, I thought everyone will hate her."

Better Man actor Remy Hii, who is currently filming a new Netflix series, Marco Polo in Kazakstan, was honoured with the industry-voted best new talent prize earlier this week.
