Katy Perry had trouble remembering Tony Abbott's name despite their discussion last time she was in Aust.

CHEEKY Katy Perry has put Miley Cyrus in her place after a Twitter diss.

"Oooo gurrrl I'm gonna give you the BIGGEST spanking when I see you in the UK bb!" Perry tweeted back at Cyrus, along with tongue and Union Jack emojis.

The Roar singer has since deleted the tweet.

The social media spat began after Perry jokily told Sunrise that she pulled away from kissing Miley Cyrus because she 'didn't know where that tongue had been'.

Cyrus then posted a series of tweets that seemed to poke fun at Perry's ex-boyfriend John Mayer, who is infamous for his lothario ways.

Cyrus's diss may also have been aimed at Perry's ex-husband, comedian Russell Brand, a sex addict who has admitted to bedding scores of women.

"I just walked up to her to give her like a friendly girly kiss, you know, as girls do," Perry told Sunrise on Tuesday.

"And then she tried to move her head and go deeper and I pulled away. God knows where that tongue has been. We don't know! That tongue is so infamous!"

Cyrus was not impressed, tweeting a snappy comeback.

The Wrecking Ball singer, who is currently on her Bangerz tour, followed that up with some fan art capturing the kiss.

"Dontchyouuuu act like you didn't lurvvvvv it", Cyrus said.
