POLICE have enough evidence to prosecute 32 motorists following a 130-car pile-up in England - but will send them on a driver alertness course instead.
A senior police officer said educating the drivers would be more beneficial than burdening the court system, BBC reported.
During the one-day course, the motorists will participate in an interactive classroom session before driving in front of an instructor.
The decision to spare the drivers prosecution follows a four-month investigation into the September 5 pile-up on the Sheppey Crossing in Kent.
In what's believed to be the biggest accident in thick fog in living memory, eight people suffered serious injuries and 200 others were treated at the scene. Police said it was a miracle no-one was killed.
The pile-up began about 7.15am and continued for 10 minutes as cars and lorries smashed into each other.
