A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl was saved by a group of motorcycle riders after falling from a fifth-floor window.

The Daily Mail reports that five motorcycle couriers were on a break in the Chinese village of Ninghai County, Zhejiang Province, when they heard the girl crying from the window ledge.

It is believed that the toddler had woken up from a sleep and crawled out the window disoriented.

Video footage shows that the men still drop the baby as she slips through their fingers but their efforts helped break her fall and ultimately save her life.

The girl was uninjured except for a bruise on her eye. Two of the men who saved her suffered neck injuries.

'I didn't think much, I just went up to save her when the child dropped,' said Lou Guobing, whose neck was injured.

The girl's parents said they had gone to a nearby pharmacy to buy medicine after their daughter fell asleep.

It comes in the same week where the daughter of a former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre received praise for catching a baby who tumbled off a second-floor fire escape in Brooklyn.

Joe Torre, a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player and manager, said in a statement he was "very proud of my daughter Cristina's actions today during an incident in Brooklyn involving a small child".

Chrintina Torre, 44, caught the one-year-old boy after he climbed onto the fire escape.

"I didn't really know what was going to happen. ... You just move into action - you don't really think about it," Ms Torre said.

She was having coffee at a cupcake shop when bystanders saw the one-year-old dangling from an awning of a frozen yogurt store next door.

"I'm talking to him saying, 'Don't come down, stay there,"' she said. "He helped himself with his arms. He was dangling. I knew he would be flipping very soon."

She said the child "literally landed in my arms." Torre credited her father for her "good hand-eye coordination."

Police say the baby is stable. The parents were arrested and charged with reckless endangerment.
