Festival keeps Swamp Thing in line-up

Are they Super XD Trollz, cyber-bullies or brats with brains? You decide if Nebz and Tristan from Facebeef have too much time on their hands.

AUSTRALIA'S most vicious internet troll last night launched a vile pro-Hitler campaign that has shocked even his most loyal fans.

Tristan Barker's antics had threatened his rocker father's appearance at the WOMADelaide festival, but organisers today confirmed his act The Swamp Thing would still be performing in this weekend's line-up.

The event's promoters ignored calls to dump The Swamp Thing from the bill, featuring Michael Barker of former Split Enz and The John Butler Trio fame, despite his support for his son's antics online.

A spokesperson for the event said today that The Swamp Thing "will be appearing at Womadelaide this weekend".

"Other than that, we have no comment."

Tristan Barker has made international headlines for his cyber attacks. The 18-year-old is currently wanted for questioning by Melbourne police in relation to allegations of a sustained harassment campaign against a small business owner.

Police cannot do anything until he returns from Rotorua, New Zealand where he is living with his father in the Haumurana region.

Trstan Barker's overnight pro-Hitler comments discussed on Triple M.

The Barker father and son duo have previously played together as The Swamp Thing.

WOMADelaide's promoters had received a number of calls from concerned sponsors including Coles, but the festival has confirmed Barker's act will play this weekend.

Matters intensified last night with Tristan Barker using Facebook to mobilise his 300,000-plus "fans" to bombard the internet site of Austereo's Triple M with pro-Hitler messages.

"Hitler never did anything illegal," wrote one poster under the name Melinda Winterford.

The radio station is said to have been under immense stress trying to manage the situation and needed to call in expert technical assistance to manage the issue.

Tristan Barker's pro-Hitler diatribe followed him being interviewed by Triple M's The Grill Team yesterday morning about why he had decided to become a "troll of the highest order".

The interviewee appeared agitated by the line of questioning and the call came to an end. However Barker, who recorded and posted the interview to YouTube, went on to say to the show's hosts: "Hitler did nothing wrong, c**t, nigger, f**k."

The hate speech was not broadcast. The YouTube video has received almost 45,000 views.

Following the YouTube posting Tristan Barker asked his fans to use Twitter and Facebook to have the hash tag "#hitlerdidnothingwrong" trend. With a fan base rivalling many major Australian media organisations, it did just that.

On the teen's Facebook page there has been mixed reaction to his new Hitler campaign. Some of his loyal fans have suggested, this time, maybe he has gone too far.

"Shame your costing your old man a badly paid gig while putting yourself on watch-lists ... you smarmy uneducated little opinion-worshipper. Who's gonna (sic) think you're too smart in 2014? Probably only you, and maybe your dad if he gets off welfare," wrote a David Curtis.

However hundreds of teenagers have written on Mr Barker's Facebook comparing him with God.

Tristan Barker's parents told News Ltd a fortnight ago that they supported their son's internet endeavours.

"People find Tristan's views on things quite interesting, people really like it, yeah," said mother Cathy.

His famous father said: "We leave each other alone and don't hurt one another and we give each other our space. Tristan is his own man now...I would say he is a ratbag."

Asked about his son's online comments about United States teenager Amanda Todd who committed suicide after suffering cyber bullying, the musician replied: "Was she slutty and attention seeking?"

Victoria Police's Sergeant Sharon Darcy issued a statement this morning confirming investigations were continuing. "Police are aware of the Facebeef site and are currently investigating some of the activities associated with it, as these matters are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further."
