HE COULD be the next van Gogh or Picasso. Or is he just a cute little two-year-old who loves mucking around with paint?
Little Vinnie Macris of Toowong in Brisbane has shown a love and talent for art that has been recognised by art experts, teachers and now a gallery.
At only two, he will be having his own solo exhibition at C Gallery in Fortitude Valley this April, and he already has his own website, vinnieart.com.
Mum Summa Shing, a make-up artist, said she was surprised to discover that Vinnie, who was diagnosed with high-functioning autism last year, showed such talent. It was her grandfather, Tom Hruza, an art teacher from
Armidale in NSW, who first pointed out his skill.
"He said Vinnie's doing some really great stuff with paint. It was the way he manipulates the paint and also the composition - it's very rhythmic.''
She posted his pictures on Facebook, and they attracted plenty of attention including that of Troy Williams, owner of C Gallery at Emporium in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
He says it was Vinnie's use of colour and composition that caught his eye.
"In Vinnie's art there are certain elements that people will relate to and be blown away by. His composition and use of colours is phenomenal.
"I've seen videos of him painting, and it's astounding. It's not like a normal two-year-old. He's concentrating. You can see his thought process.
"I think people will be surprised by the level of maturity that comes out in the work.''
Little Vinnie, who lives with his mum and dad Leon in Toowong, has no idea of the amount of attention he's receiving. He's just happy doing what he loves.
Ms Shing said her son was diagnosed as a high-functioning autistic in June last year. She has compiled a list of famous people also on the autism spectrum for Vinnie to see when he is older.
"When your son gets an autism diagnosis it is absolutely devastating,'' she said.
"I'm the type of person who always sees the glass half full, and I just thought, you know, I'm just going to run with this. Why not? It's a lovely thing.''

Vinnie's exhibition opens on April 4, and 10 per cent of the profits will be donated to the AEIOU foundation.
