IT has all the elements of a classic Gold Coast underbelly murder case: a hooker travelling on a street named Hooker Blvd with her pimp/husband, her son-of-a-bikie client and a gun-toting drug dealer along for the ride in the in-laws' Toyota Corolla.

A court has been told how the short drive from Surfers Paradise to Broadbeach erupted in punches and ended with the client being shot dead on one of the Coast's busiest streets.

Anthony Stewart Bagley, 40, is facing a committal hearing in Southport Magistrates Court charged with the murder of Colin Edgar Lutherborrow, 36, at Broadbeach in July last year.

Star witnesses, prostitute Claudia Koulis and her husband George, have been granted indemnity from prosecution to testify and are under witness protection.

Mrs Koulis - who told the court she was an architect who turned to prostitution because of financial problems - was also declared a special witness and allowed to give evidence by video link from another room after police said she had been threatened.

The court heard Bagley had been a client of Mrs Koulis and she and her husband later obtained drugs from him.

On the night of the murder, the Koulises picked up Lutherborrow from his Mermaid Waters unit in her parents' Corolla and took him to a Biggera Waters apartment she used to service clients.

After they had sex for two-and-a-half hours, Mr Koulis agreed to drive Lutherborrow home to Broadbeach, but they stopped in Surfers Paradise to get pizza and buy amphetamines for Mrs Koulis from Bagley, the court heard.

Bagley got into the car with them to do the drug deal and they began driving but Lutherborrow became angry, Mr Koulis told the court.

"He started going off at Anthony. He said (to Bagley) 'who the (expletive) are you?'," Mr Koulis told the court.

"Colin indicated his father was a big Fink (bikie gang member)."

Mr Koulis told the court Lutherborrow and Bagley became involved in a violent altercation as they drove.

After Lutherborrow punched Mr Koulis in the head, Mrs Koulis jumped out of the car when it stopped at a set of traffic lights on Hooker Bvd, Broadbeach.

"I thought 'oh my gosh, I'm going to get a black eye here'," she told the court.

"There was all this screaming and arguing. There was a lot of punches between those two."

Mr Koulis told the court Lutherborrow was ordered out of the car on the roadside but he threatened Bagley, telling him: "Wait 'til I see you next . . . you're (expletive) dead."

Bagley then pulled a gun and fired a "warning shot" into the air, Mr Koulis told the court.

Lutherborrow responded: "So, you pussy, you can't even shoot me."

Bagley then allegedly shot Lutherborrow dead.

Mr Koulis said after they picked up his wife from the roadside, Bagley pointed the gun at him and said: "By rights, I should kill youse both now."

Defence solicitor Darren Mahoney suggested Mr Koulis was not really in fear of Bagley.

Mr Koulis replied: "I saw this man put a bullet in a man he'd known for 15 minutes . . . he would have no problem doing it to me."

The hearing continues.
