IT should be called Property Apprentice.

But Australia's largest real estate agency is scouring the country to find young and enthusiastic wannabe sales people that it can tell "you're hired!".

It even has a Donald Trump-styled leader in the form of Andrew Bell from Ray White Surfers Paradise, whose idea inspired a nationwide hunt for four people who will become the next rockstar agents.

"When you look at the sales agents who have survived the GFC, they were all financially stable agents with a lot of experience who pulled through, but it took out a lot of the younger people from the industry," Mr Bell said.

"For five years we've had very few young people join real estate because they have not had the skills to deal with the tougher market. I thought it was time for the industry to start investing in young people and training them with the skills they will need for any market condition."

To prove their worthiness, budding apprentices will need to prove they can sell the unsellable – sand – in a 60 second video.

"That gives us a feel for their personality, how creative they are, how they conduct themselves and their confidence levels," Mr Bell said.

"It's in keeping with a lot of the talent shows at the moment. People enjoy them because they are a lot of fun."

The successful applicants will spend a year at Ray White Surfers Paradise where they will be mentored by Mr Bell and top real estate coach Tom Panos.

In addition they will earn a base salary and have their training paid for including registration as an agent and the REIQ Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate).

"When I wanted to become an agent, I went to about 40 interviews before I got a job. This is a great opportunity for four young people passionate about the industry to receive the training, support and mentoring to learn from the best."

At the end of the year they may be offered permanent positions with the group which features more than 10,000 agents nationally.

There is no age limit and applicants do not need formal qualifications.

Entries close on November 12. Candidates who make it to the next stage will be interviewed by a panel at the end of November and the first week of December. The four winners will be announced on December 10.
